Free Lyft Rides for Public Safety

Produced by the HRC Foundation

Transportation should never be a barrier in receiving life-saving care or access to life-changing opportunities, which is why HRC has partnered with Lyft to provide free rides. In partnership with Lyft and trans-focused community-based organizations, HRC is offering free Lyft rides in select cities for medical appointments, job interviews, and more. Through this program, we work to tackle the systemic racial barriers to care and prioritize trans communities of color.

Every year the Trans Justice Initiative team chooses a handful of areas to focus additional resources in based on the fatal violence report numbers from the previous year. Based on last year's report, the cities we'll be focusing on over the coming year are: Washington DC, Missouri, New York, New Mexico, Pennsylvania. Our first batch of Lyft grantees for this year has an organization representing each of these cities.

Lyft grants are awarded on a quarterly basis to 501(c)(3) or fiscally sponsored entities across the country.
